Rascal Reviewer (Ongoing)

  • Must be able to write three reviews per year that include all the elements we're looking for in a review. This list is available on our Submission Guidelines page.

  • Must be able to access and review books that were published in the last year or forthcoming.

  • Must be able to work on a deadline!

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month for three months.

Sweet Talk Interviewer (Ongoing)

  • Must be able to conduct three interviews per year with teen artists and writers of the  Interviewer's choice.

  • Must have an open mind and be curious about people! Interviewer also should be able to ask insightful questions and keep the flow of the conversation.

  • Must be able to work on a deadline!

  • Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month for three non-consecutive months.

Art Contributors (Ongoing)

  • Must be able to produce up to 3 pieces per issue. Issues are published biannually.

  • Must be able to work on a deadline and collaborate with Editor-in-Chief to match up work with writing.

  • Time commitment: 1-3 hours/week for a month after general submission periods. Hours will vary for each artist, simply due to the fact that everyone works at a different pace.

Blog Contributors (Ongoing)

  • Must write at least one themed essay/article/similar work every other month, which ends up as four months a year due to the staff's annual summer hiatus.

  • Must be able work on a deadline and edit in collaboration with Editor-in-Chief if need be.

  • Time commitment 1-3 hours/month, for alternating months.

  1. We are unable to pay you because Sugar Rascals isn't bringing in any revenue or paying its contributors at the moment.
  2. We are looking for people who are excited about our mission, well-read, diligent with their work, and have good communication skills.
  3. If your application is accepted, you can't submit to Sugar Rascals issues.
  4. Please submit your application in a common font, size 12, and in Word document or in the body of the email. Make sure that your full name and the position you are applying for is in the subject line.
